E + E Podcast Episode 27: What A Labor + Delivery Nurse Wants You To Know About Labor With @mackenzie.on.motherhood

LISTEN TO EPISODE 27

In labor when you make noise and helps get all of your tension out, and then you know your breathing, your jaw, your tongue, everything up here is like connected to your pelvic floor. So the more you can relax and breathe out like low tones, helps to keep everything open and relaxed so that your pelvic floor can stay relaxed.

ABOUT THE EPISODE

This week we are featuring part one of a two part series with Mackenzie from @mackenzie.on.motherhood on Instagram and TikTok. She is a labor and delivery nurse as well as a postpartum nurse. She is in our home state of Wisconsin and we absolutely love supporting fellow Midwesterners.

Today we are talking all about labor and delivery. Mackenzie answers our questions on what the role of a labor and delivery nurse is, the sometimes controversial subject of Pitocin, and what cervical checks are and why they’re performed.

Mackenzie tells the story about one comment she got on a reel she created regarding noise as a coping mechanism during labor and delivery and why she disagrees with that comment. From her perspective, she tells us what surprises women the most during labor and about the appearance of baby after delivery.

Be sure to stay tuned because in a few weeks we will have Mackenzie back on the show for part two of this series where we will chat about all things postpartum!

If you enjoyed listening to this episode, we would love it if you could share it to your Instagram stories and tag both of us; @expectingandempowered and @mackenzie.on.motherhood.
